Price reduced at ‘highest hotel in Cornwall’

Colliers International step up efforts to bring new owners to Wheal Tor

Owners have reduced the asking price for the Wheal Tor Hotel near Liskeard, which is on the market with global real estate advisor Colliers International.

The highest inn in Cornwall sits in a secluded pine copse 996 ft above sea level on Caradon Hill and overlooks Bodmin Moor. The stunning hilltop inn is now available for £695,000 for the freehold.

Wheal Tor has eight letting rooms, some of which have king size or four poster beds, but their USP is their range of unique glamping pods - called Hobbit Houses.

Ed Jefferson from Colliers International’s hotels team said: “There is even one room available for dog owners alongside two lodges, function room, bar and restaurant.”

There is a large first floor flat with two double bedrooms, living area and kitchenette for the owners alongside extensive grounds amounting to 2.5 acres.

He added: “The owners have another business producing jams and chutneys for farm shops, cafes etc. They want to sell the hotel to focus on this as it is growing rapidly and they need to locate to an industrial unit.”

Wheal Tor draws year-round trade for holidaymakers, walkers and locals. The glamping pods – called Hobbit Houses – offer a double bed, single bed and a camp bed and are ideal for family adventure holidays without all the inconveniences of a tent.”

A fantastic holiday cottage which is yet to come online is available under separate negotiation with an asking price of £600,000. Net revenue from the cottage is forecast to be £55,000 pa.

“Hotels catering for such a wide range of family holidays are rare indeed. Wheal Tor is a well-established business offering a unique range of experiences.”

The property is situated in the heart of Cornwall close to Bodmin Moor and the main A30, A38 and A388. Launceston is 11 miles away, Plymouth 21 and Exeter 52 miles.
