South Lakes Hotels has instructed global real estate advisor Colliers to sell the Riverside Hotel in Kendal, Cumbria. Colliers is marketing the property for offers over £4.5 million.

Located in the heart of the “Gateway to the Lakes” – Kendal, the Riverside Hotel is in an outstanding position on the banks of the River Kent beneath the ruins of the town’s 12th century castle.

The imposing hotel offers luxurious accommodation and substantial facilities only a few minutes from the Kendal town centre, Kendal railway and bus stations and the Lake District National Park.

This modern 58-letting bedroom property combines past and present with contemporary styling and décor, spacious conference facilities, leisure facilities and two eateries.

Associate Director at Colliers, Robert Smithson says “This is a rare opportunity to buy an established hotel located in a highly popular tourist location very close to theThe Lake District National Park, one of the UK’s premier tourist destinations. The hotel is a successful business in its own right, benefitting fromstrong trade from a wide range of revenue streams.

“Whilst The Lake District is a densely populated National Park, there are few large conurbations with the Riverside being one of the largest hotels in Kendal, and with inbound tourists numbering an average of 15.5 million per year to the Lakes, it really has proved itself to be a tourist hot spot.

“The Riverside Hotel is now for sale to allow the owner to focus on other business interests, and the property, is ready to be taken to the next level by owners who wish to realise its considerable inherent commercial potential and take advantage of the significant interest in the Lakes and Cumbria as a holiday destination.”

The hotel is located only around 20 minutes from the M6 motorway and a short drive of the Lakes honeypot towns of Windermere (nine miles), Grasmere (18 miles) and Ambleside (14 miles).

For those wishing to explore a little further, the town Keswick (46 miles) can be reached in less than an hour, Penrith (32 miles) can be reached in approximately 40 minutes and the vibrant City of Manchester (73 miles) is around two hours to the south.
