Colliers International appointed to sell three high-profile hotels across the UK for Shearings Leisure Group

Global real estate advisor, Colliers International, has been appointed to sell three hotels in the north of England and Scotland, on behalf of Shearings Leisure Group, a leading operator of escorted tours and leisure hotels.

Paul Barrasford, a director in the Hotels Agency team at Colliers International, commented: “Although part of a larger group, each hotel is an established and successful business in its own right, in particular, due to recent and major refurbishment programmes, increased private leisure and the popularity of these hotels amongst local clientele for a wide array of corporate and private events. From both an operational and property perspective, there are exciting value add opportunities at each property.”

The following freehold properties are available on an individual or cluster basis:

Strathmore Hotel, Morecambe

Situated on the main promenade, the 47-bedroom property features a bar, which seats 80 customers and has views across the bay. There is also a restaurant and substantial conference suite with capacity for up to 150. 

The property agents are seeking offers in the region of £1.3 million.

Morecambe, with a resident population of 45,000, is popular for its beaches and a variety of exciting attractions such as Morecambe’s Happy Mount Park, which is a short walk from the hotel. The town’s live entertainment venue, a restored Edwardian railway station, is also close by.                                                    

Eden Arms Hotel, Durham

Originally a 17th century coaching inn, the 44-bedroom property also comprises a bar, which seats 50 customers; a restaurant, catering for up to 83 diners and well-appointed function facilities, including four versatile rooms with a capacity ranging from 20-120. There is also a popular leisure club, with a fully equipped gym; indoor heated pool; sauna; steam room and spa. The property also benefits from a planning consent to develop three residential dwellings, whilst a wide range of outbuildings are also ideal further redevelopment.

The property agents are seeking offers in the region of £1.65 million.

The hotel is ideally placed for corporate and leisure trade. From the highly accessible roadside location, visitors have quick access to local attractions such as the Angel of the North and Hadrian’s Wall as well as Durham city. The local village is a short walk away, where guests will find welcoming pubs, enticing gift shops and an inviting public beach. Other local attractions include Glentrool Forest Park; Burns Cottage; Culzean Castle; Logan Botanic Gardens and the Mull of Galloway, with its views to the Isle of Man.
