Colliers International appointed to sell The Christopher Hotel, Restaurant and Bar, Windsor

Eton is a Royal County of Berkshire town and home to the world famous Eton college (Est. 1440 by King Henry VI) whose alumni include Princes William and Harry and no less than 20 previous prime ministers. Just a short walk from the hotel is Royal Windsor; its 900-year-old Castle and the official residence of the Queen. Other notable attractions in the surrounding area include Legoland Windsor Resort, Windsor Great Pak and Ascot Racecourse.

The property, which dates back to the 1800s, was first constructed as a coaching inn with stabling to the rear. The balcony rooms of the main building were originally used as a magistrate’s court, however, during the 1960’s and 1970’s, the first floor was used as a music venue for unsigned bands; reputedly hosting Mick Jagger before the formation of The Rolling Stones.

Fronting the High Street with its own car park to the rear, the handsome Grade II listed 34-bedroom hotel also has an in-house restaurant; Christopher’s Bar and Grill, which offers all day dining in a relaxed informal atmosphere. Business facilities include the Windsor Suite and a boardroom style conference room, available for up to 12 delegates.

Paul Barrasford, a director in the Hotels Agency team at Colliers International, commented: “The Christopher Hotel has a great product offering and is a popular base for both corporate and leisure guests.  Windsor’s status as one of the must see tourist locations has been further boosted by the recent Royal Wedding.  The hotel is ideally placed to capitalise on this demand and there’s clear scope to improve on its already impressive trading performance.
