The Colliers Property Management Team has been recognised with a Green Apple award following its work at Marlow International.

Winning the ‘Conservation’ category, the award was presented to the team for its implementation of a range of environmental initiatives that helped reduce the carbon footprint of the 230,000 sq ft office property in Marlow by improving the waste management efficiency. The team also installed two bug hotels, two new compost bins, five bird boxes and a newt pond in the grounds as well as planting 60 new trees and hedgerows.

Commissioning GreenEarth on two large projects, the vista of the building has as a result been dramatically improved thanks to new grass being laid, weeds removed and attractive hedgerows planted. A beehive was also installed on site through a not-for-profit organisation called Beesmax. The hive is home to 15,000 bees and offers tenants, as well as local schools, the chance to take part in informative sessions on beekeeping.

In the communal areas, a significant amount of tropical plants have been added to improve the customer experience. This has had have a positive impact on the wellbeing of the building’s four tenants that call Marlow International home, creating attractive area for staff and clients to use.

In respect to waste management, the contract was re-tendered and a new provider has reduced the property’s carbon footprint through implementing larger recycling bins, a bigger dual purpose compactor machine and reduced collections. Modern internal recycling stations have also been added.

James Taylor, Colliers’ Customer Experience Manager at Marlow International, commented: “We have taken real pride in the changes we have made at Marlow International over the last 12 months and we are so pleased their positive impact has been recognised by the Green Apple Awards. Through these changes we have created a space, both inside and outside, that is attractive, has strong environmental credentials and creates a sense of pride for our occupiers. Our work isn’t over yet though and I look forward to helping implement further positive strategies in the near future.”
