In honour of International Women's Day we are supporting this year's campaign #BalanceforBetter with a month of initiatives designed to celebrate diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
In London West End, the ‘Thank You Cards’ were hand delivered to recipients on International Women’s Day. We also encouraged employees to wear purple on Friday as part of the campaign and we raised funds for CAMFED, an international non-profit organisation which supports girls to go to school and succeed; tackling poverty and inequality, and empowering young women to step up as leaders of change.
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women - while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender balance. Colliers International is proud to support International Women’s Day and to lead the way in proactively hiring, encouraging, mentoring and championing women in the commercial real estate industry.
Women across the organisation openly shared stories about how they have overcome challenges and obstacles in their career in a predominately male dominated industry. Sam Addison, Head of Project Management, Occupier Services, said: “I received some lovely feedback some years ago that I made a difference for other women ‘by just getting on with it and showing that it is possible to have a career in property and construction whilst having a family’; I like this no-nonsense approach to being a role model.”
Hilary Witts, Head of Operations, Rating, added: “I am the only female Director in our team and, as Head of Operations, often have to find a way to influence people in different ways. Women, in this organisation are making a stand and dominating in every field they know they are capable of overtaking.”
