Guesthouse business in the Bard’s backyard available

07 07 20 Guesthouse business in the Bards backyard available hero

Entrepreneurs looking to get started in the hospitality business could snap up an established guesthouse in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The Stratford Limes, in Tiddington, is located just outside William Shakespeare’s hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon, the Royal Shakespeare Company, close to Warwick Castle, the British Motor Museum and the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making it an ideal location for tourists looking for a home from home to stay in.

The current owners are retiring from the hospitality industry due to ill health, but wish to retain the freehold of the property, so are offering a new operator a 15-year free of tie lease for £70,000, with a starting rent of £35,000.

Peter Brunt, director of Hotels Agency at Colliers’ Bristol Office said: “The Stratford Limes would be a great business to purchase for those looking to start up or expand in the hospitality industry. The property is in an ideal location for accessing the local attractions, and is a manageable size for those new to the business. It is also really beautifully presented.”

Typically guesthouses provide a profit of 40-45% of revenue. The current owners have given an example year from 2016 of the business’ profitability when they showed a profit well over £100,000. Due to health concerns the business has not been running at full capacity in more recent years but has remained comfortably profitable even so.
