Colliers International appointed to sell coastal hotel in Morecambe for Shearings Leisure Group

Global real estate advisor, Colliers International, has been appointed to sell 47-bedroom Strathmore Hotel, Morecambe, for offers in the region of £1.3 million, on behalf of Shearings Leisure Group, a leading operator of escorted tours and leisure hotels.

The 47-bedroom seafront hotel features excellent public areas including a bar, restaurant and substantial conference room, all with magnificent views across Morecambe Bay.

Robert Smithson, a Surveyor in the Hotels Agency team at Colliers International, commented: “Although part of a larger group, the hotel is an established and successful business in its own right, in particular, due to a recent refurbishment programme. Increasingly, guests are now deciding to make their own way to the hotel, rather than using the tour coach services, which is in part, due to a rise in the popularity of this hotel amongst local clientele for a wider array of corporate and private events. From both an operational and property perspective, there are exciting value add opportunities at the property.”

Morecambe, with a resident population of 45,000, is popular for its beaches and a variety of exciting attractions such as Morecambe’s Happy Mount Park, which is a short walk from the hotel. The town’s live entertainment venue,The Platform, a restored Edwardian railway station, is also close by as is Morecambe Winter Gardens Theatre In addition, for guests seeking a day of culture, Lancaster Castle is a short journey away, providing visitors with an insight into the country’s storied past.

The freehold Strathmore Hotel is available on an individual or cluster basis. The other hotels in the portfolio for sale include Portpatrick Hotel, Portpatrick, and Eden Arms Hotel, near Durham.
