Substantial family holiday park changes hands
Cosways Family Holiday Park becomes the latest acquisition by Away Resorts
Cosways Family Holiday Park in Colchester has been sold to leading British holiday park operator, Away Resorts, in an off market deal.
Colliers International advised the private owners on the sale of the park for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition sees Away Resort’s purchase their fifth site, the first since they were subject to a secondary buy-out by LDC.
Located in the popular Essex tourist location of Mersea Island, Cosways is developed with 200 static caravan pitches and a range of onsite facilities as well as a substantial amount of additional land. The park has the added benefit of recently obtaining planning consent for the development of 31 additional static caravan pitches and a new park reception and office building.
Richard Moss, Head of Colliers International’s Parks team, who advised Mr Brett Lord, the existing owner said: “Parks of this size and outlook on the south coast are rare and the client was delighted to conduct an off market sale for the benefit of both the staff and customers. Away Resorts is a reputable and experienced operator across the UK and Cosways will be an excellent addition to their expanding portfolio.”
Carl Castledine, Managing Director of Away Resorts said: “To acquire a park so early in the LDC hold is highly pleasing and shows the strong appetite to expand that Away Resorts possesses. The purchase of any park confidentially can be delicate, in particular one with such a location and potential to be developed further, so the support of Colliers during the process was pivotal. We wish Brett all the very best.”
