The Best Western Cutlers Hotel in Sheffield has been bought by Saxon Hotels, the company owned by chairman of the Football Association and former director general of the BBC, Greg Dyke.

The three star hotel, located on the edge of Sheffield’s ‘famous Theatre Land’ comprises 45 en suite letting bedrooms, bar and restaurant. The Crucible Theatre, Lyceum Theatre, City Hall and the O2 Academy are all in close proximity.

The hotel was bought for an undisclosed price from Philip Pierce and Ben Woolrych of FRP Advisory, joint administrators of Meridius Limited.

Peter Bean, Director of Hotels Agency at Colliers International, who handled the sale on behalf of FRP Advisory commented: “The Best Western Cutlers Hotel has a first class location in the very heart of Sheffield city centre and our marketing process generated multiple bids above the asking price from UK and international buyers. We wish Mr Dyke and his established hotels team every success.”
