Thanet Well Country Park in Cumbria, a holiday park with 63 timber holiday lodges, has been sold by real estate advisors Colliers International after seeking offers over £3m.

The park was sold on behalf of the UK’s leading park management company, Bridge Leisure.

The business, set in almost 10 acres (3.9 hectares) at Greystoke near Penrith, close to the North West edge of the Lake District National Park was acquired by The Darwin Leisure Property Fund, which will operate and invest in the park.

Thanet Well comprises 63 pitches used as 37 lodges to hire, 15 privately-owned lodges, 2 lodges for staff, 4 privately-owned static caravans and 5 vacant pitches.

The sale also included a 1.47 acre (0.6 hectare) plot of land currently used for pasture that could use for further development subject to the relevant planning permission.

Richard Moss of the specialist parks division of Colliers International, secured the sale and said: “Thanet Well provides an excellent opportunity to benefit from the strong UK holiday short stay market while also providing excellent future sales opportunities by filling the vacant pitches and potentially developing additional pitches.

“The park offers excellent access to the Lake District – a major draw for both private and short stay visitors – but is away from the hustle and bustle of the popular tourist towns.”
