Earmarked for new housing, the former infant’s school in Bath Old Road, Radstock has been placed on the market with sector specialists Colliers International.

The school closed in 2005 and the 0.89 acre site is being sold on behalf of Bath and North East Somerset Council.

Ben Meynell of Colliers International’s Development Consulting and Agency team said the site is well located to suit a new residential scheme.

“Although a full planning application for 14 houses was refused in 2007 this was on the grounds of ‘design’ rather than ‘principle’ and we anticipate that an appropriately designed scheme should be capable of securing planning permission.  Reflecting this, subject to planning offers are invited.”

The site is on the northern edge of Radstock in an established residential area with views across the town towards the Mendips to the south. 

The former school site contains some former classroom accommodation but the majority of the site comprises open school grounds. The immediate neighbourhood is long established residential.

Ben added: “We are anticipating strong demand for this site as the market continues to improve and developers are on the lookout for readily available brownfield sites such as this.

Development of this derelict site will provide welcome new houses to the area and could help meet the council’s on-going housing demand.”
