The operator has instructed global property adviser, Colliers International’s Licensed and Leisure team to secure freehold and long leasehold properties in a wide range of locations across the UK.

The boutique cinema operator currently has six venues across London and most recently, expanded beyond the capital to Knutsford, East Cheshire. It also operates a home cinema service, Curzon Home Cinema.

The company wants to open up to five cinemas in the next twelve months and is considering suburban London neighbourhoods as well as key locations including Brighton, Edinburgh, St Albans, Oxford, Surrey and Kent, amongst others. 6,000 to 15,000 sq ft lot sizes are preferred.

Ross Kirton, Director, Licensed and Leisure, Colliers International, said, “We are very keen to consider properties of unusual configurations and design, in keeping with the style of brand – this might mean we look at upper floors above retail parades and basements as well  small office buildings, community halls and disused retail/leisure property. Primarily we are seeking sites in affluent towns but ones which might be struggling with high street malaise where a new leisure destination can really add a tremendous boost.”

Carlo Comminos Director at Curzon, said, “Our healthy financial position and a successful track record of operating profitable cinemas and generating high customer footfalls into the local areas make Curzon a very welcome addition to any high street.”

Colliers International has been instructed as joint agents alongside existing advisers, Savills.
