Hotels, development and planning specialists from Colliers International will attend the high profile exhibition and conference expected to attract business leaders from across the South West and beyond.

Colliers International planning specialist Marcus Plaw said the conference would help Sedgemoor District Council raise its economic profile across the country.

He said: “We have put together a small multi-disciplinary team  to assist everybody from local landowners to  property developers and hoteliers to navigate the planning issues and development opportunities in the district and, no doubt arising from the recent news regarding the development of Hinkley Point C.

“As well as providing a forum to investigate further the key property related issues associated with Hinkley Point C the exhibition provides an excellent basis for other, unrelated businesses to embrace Bridgwater and the wider district as a  positive place to invest in and do business.”

Marcus Plaw added:  “For many years we have recognised the ability of Hinkley Point C to unlock development opportunities not just in Bridgwater but across the South West. There are obvious implications for businesses providing temporary accommodation who might need additional space through the construction phase.

“We also anticipate local demand for warehouses and storage facilities as well as an immediate uplift in the hospitality sector as leisure  and caravan parks   look to extend their accommodation to cope with the anticipated surge in demand.”
He concluded: “Sedgemoor District Council’s continued and proactive support for economic develop and growth should be seen as a positive indication that the district is open for business and keen to form links between businesses elsewhere in the South West.”
