Colliers International has been appointed to implement planned maintenance works on the 1.3 million sq ft roof over one of the most recognised shopping centres in the UK.

Millions of commuters cannot fail to notice the prominent green roofs of Meadowhall Shopping Centre at junction 34 of the M1. However the ongoing maintenance of the familiar landmark sight since construction in 1990 is a major undertaking.

Colliers International is to project manage the investigation and subsequent repair programme for the entire roof. This will also include the assessment of the fire and smoke extraction strategy across the site, including the implementation of refurbishment works. The project is expected to last over around 5 years with a phased approach.  

The Yorkshire based team at Colliers International has been involved with Meadowhall since 1999 when British Land acquired the site. Colliers conducted the original acquisition survey and since then has maintained a successful relationship with Meadowhall’s team. 

With extensive knowledge and a successful history with Meadowhall, Colliers International is well qualified to advise for the ongoing maintenance of the site. Meadowhall is a hugely successful shopping centre with 280 stores drawing in around 25 million visitors each year. It is one of the most successful properties within the British Land portfolio and continues to attract major brands each year.
