Colliers International’s Parks team has secured the largest holiday park sale of 2012, which sees Turnberry Holiday Park, Ayrshire, sold to Bridge Leisure Parks (BLP) on behalf of a private client. Situated just a few hundred yards from the world famous Turnberry Golf Course, the park was marketed with a guide price of £4.5m.

Bridge Leisure Parks sees the acquisition of Turnberry as a key part of its future strategy to expand the company’s portfolio of UK holiday parks.

Andrew Howe, Chief Executive of BLP, said: “Turnberry is an excellent park for us; a great location, a solid existing business and strong opportunities for growth. We are very excited about this latest addition.”

The park extends to some 23 acres and 220 holiday home pitches and offers spectacular sea views, looking out over the Irish Sea and Ailsa Craig.

Richard Moss, Director at Colliers International in Edinburgh, said: "Turnberry is a recognised destination for local, national and international holiday makers. The fantastic golf in the area is a huge draw for visitors but there are many other leisure attractions that drive holiday home ownership – not to mention the attractive coastline. The business has traded well in recent years, which is a testament to the demand for the location combined with the attentive management of the previous owner.”

“Colliers International has experienced a consistent volume of transactions in the holiday and home parks market over the last two years and, while the sector is not without challenges, there remains a healthy appetite for quality businesses of this type.”

Colliers acted as joint agent with Edwards and Partners (Yorkshire office), with the legal aspect of the sale handled by Peter McNamara of Frazer Coogans Solicitors (Ayr).
