Our History in Asia

Colliers traces its roots back to 1898, when Macaulay Nicolls was founded in Vancouver, Canada as a real estate, property management and insurance agency.

Colliers is born in Australia when three likeminded companies merge and adopt the name of their mentor, Ronald Collier.

1978 ~ 1980

Colliers becomes international and opens new offices in Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia.


Colliers International in Asia Pacific partners with Jardine Matheson Ltd. to become Colliers Jardine.

Colliers Macaulay Nicolls (CMN) acquires an additional 50% interest in Colliers Jardine, resulting in full ownership and return to the name Colliers International.


Asia completes the global roll-out of the new visual identity and brand positioning, presenting globally as one company, one name, one brand, one vision.


90% of Colliers’ revenue is under single ownership following FirstService Corporation’s acquisition of Colliers’ business in the United Kingdom and Ireland.


FirstService acquires a majority stake in Colliers in Germany, which further strengthens the brand’s market positioning and competitiveness in EMEA.


FirstService becomes Colliers International Group Inc. and spins off its residential property management and property services business. Colliers International Group Inc. begins trading on the NASDAQ (CIGI) and TSX (CIG) on June 2, 2015 as one of only three publicly traded commercial real estate services firms with global operations in more than 60 countries across the world.
