Jeudan buys Galleri K in prominent Copenhagen high-street location

Galleri K Strøget Jeudan Copenhagen high street

Colliers has just facilitated the sale of the mixed-use retail/office complex known as Galleri K to Jeudan.

Situated in central Copenhagen, the property constitutes most of the block between Kristen Bernikows Gade, Østergade, Antonigade and Pilestræde in the most exclusive part of the main Copenhagen high street, Strøget. Although the original block dates all the way back to the 18th century, the property was mainly constructed in 1901 to serve as the Crome & Goldschmidt department store, featuring a typical Art Nouveau building style.

The property was subsequently rebuilt and renamed, first CityArkaden and many years later Galleri K, under which name it to this day stands as a beautiful and classic shopping arcade with an attractive tenant mix, including strong brands such as Sand, Adidas, Samsøe & Samsøe, By Malene Birger, Nespresso, Polestar (EVs) and Axel Arigato.

Having acquired the property in early 2020, the current owners refurbished and leased up the then vacant approx 8,500 sq m office space mainly on the 2nd through 5th floors. Office tenants include Bain & Co. In recent years, the property has also become a popular venue for dining out, offering multiple fine restaurants. Overall, the property comprises a GLA of just shy of 25,000 sq m.

The buyer is Jeudan, Denmark’s largest listed property company. With this acquisition, Jeudan adds to its substantial portfolio of Copenhagen properties with a distinctive building design.

Colliers acted as sell-side advisor in the transaction.
