Beijing | 28 February 2022|Metaverse The new internet era
Dear Valued Client,
The changing nature of society over the past two years, with the emergence of Covid, has been a main catalyst for the development of the metaverse. In 2021, the concept of the metaverse, a virtual reality space where users can interact with a computer generated environment and other users, became increasingly popular.
In March 2021, Roblox, known as the first stock of the metaverse , had a successful IPO, with a market value of USD40 billion on its first day. In October 2021, Facebook changed its name to Meta, and changed its ticker symbol from FB to MVRS . In China, the leading internet companies such as Tencent and ByteDance have also started moving into metaverse technology.
The creation of the metaverse depends upon the development of 5G, virtual reality (VR), artificial intelligence, blockchain and other technologies. Currently, the concept of the metaverse is still in its infancy, with the concept initially taking hold in the games sector. In addition, the concept of the metaverse envisions the application of metaverse technology to collaborative office scenarios. The Horizon workrooms launched by Meta allow users to move beyond the limitations of physical space and work in the same virtual room.
Since the shape of the metaverse is still in the exploratory stage, there are still risks involved in the technological development, changes in people's lifestyles, and the impact on ethics and morality.
We recommend landlords pay attention to the expansion of upstream and downstream companies related to the metaverse and focus on their possible expansion or new office lease needs, while looking for opportunities to incorporate the metaverse in their office developments.
