Colliers Partners with Jonathan KS Choi Foundation for the First Time to Debut the Choi Center – Cloud House in Beijing

Recently, Colliers was accepted by the Jonathan KS Choi Foundation and its Chairman Dr. Jonathan K. S. Choi to provide full property and asset management services for the Choi Center – Cloud House, a legendary building of great cultural and artistic significance, which will facilitate high-level international cultural and artistic exchange between France and China. This partnership marks the further expansion of Colliers in the field of cultural and artistic real estate in North China.

Jonathan KS Choi Foundation

The Jonathan KS Choi Foundation is a private foundation established in Hong Kong in 2003 by Dr. Jonathan K. S. Choi, Chairman of the Sunwah Group, to provide philanthropic support to various non-profit cultural, artistic, and educational projects that promote international exchange and cooperation around the world. The Foundation has also established Jonathan KS Choi Cultural Centers at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, the Cultural Center of the Arab World in France, and the Palais de Tokyo in France.

Choi Center – Cloud House

Located in Jiangtai Township, Chaoyang District, Beijing, the Choi Center, also known as the Cloud House, opened in 2006. It was once the residence and art studio of the famous artist Huang Rui, founder of the 798 Art District, and has a deep cultural heritage in China and abroad. Using more than 300,000 wall bricks from Ming and Qing Dynasty, the building is an important art venue in Beijing and was visited by French President Macron in January 2018 during his visit to Beijing.

The Cloud House was acquired by the Jonathan KS Choi Foundation in mid-2021, who then funded the restoration and renovation. The government and the cultural community involved in this project have high expectations for the Choi Center to play an active role in cultural exchange in the future.

The Jonathan KS Choi Foundation has reached a strategic cooperation with the French Embassy and the European Union National Cultural Association on the operation of the Center and will organize various forms of art and cultural activities in the Center, including dialogues and exhibitions, to build a new bridge of friendship between people in China and around the world.

As an expert in high-end property management, Colliers has developed a unique service plan to meet the unique cultural exchange mission of the Art Center and plans to recruit bilingual staff with a background in art to provide guided tours, assist in curating exhibitions and provide art and cultural services to visitors from around the world after the opening of the Art Center.

The historical and architectural significance of Cloud House gives the project great significance in carrying Sino-European art and cultural exchanges, and marks the further development of Colliers in the field of art and cultural real estate in North China. As an internationally renowned integrated real estate service provider, Colliers, with its forward-looking service concept and rich experience in property management and operation, empowers its art and culture clients while also promoting art and culture exchanges between China and the rest of the world.
