Mr. Hynes is co-chairman and chief executive officer of Colliers International’s Boston office, a full-service commercial real estate firm providing Brokerage, Development & Consulting Services, Valuation & Advisory Services, Capital Markets, and Real Estate Management Services to a broad range of clients.  Mr. Hynes joined the firm in 1965, was appointed president in 1988 and chairman in 2007.
Mr. Hynes has forty-six years of experience in the sale, leasing and consulting of commercial, industrial and institutional real estate.  Over the course of his career, Mr. Hynes has represented a wide variety of tenants, institutional and corporate owners, developers and users of real estate.  He is an active participant in real estate organizations in the Greater Boston area and nationally. 
Mr. Hynes has served as a trustee or director of various companies and organizations, including: Prentiss Properties Trust, New World Bank, Marine Biological Laboratory, and was Chairman of Boston College Real Estate and Investment Council, as well as a member of several subsidiary boards of Affiliated Publications.

Accomplishments


Mr. Hynes has represented clients in the acquisition, sale, lease or disposition of corporate, institutional, special purpose and residential properties.  Mr. Hynes has represented an extensive list of tenants during his career.  Many relationships have been characterized by multiple transactions in diverse locations over a number of years.
Mr. Hynes has conducted strategic real estate assignments for: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts; NSTAR; and, Ropes & Gray and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.  Multi-market lease assignments for Ropes & Gray have totaled over 1,000,000 square feet of lease transactions including a 275,000-square-foot lease for Ropes & Gray in New York which received “The Most Ingenious Deal of the Year” award by The Real Estate Board of New York; and, the lease of 475,000 square feet at the Prudential Center, which was awarded the Commercial Brokers Association “Boston Lease Deal of the Year”.
Mr. Hynes represented Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts in its real estate strategy including the sale of its 600,000-square- foot office condominium at 100 Summer Street, Boston; a 550,000-square-foot lease for its corporate headquarters at The Landmark Center in Boston; acquisition of a 350,000-square-foot office building at State Street South; and the site acquisition for a 400,000-square-foot office building in Hingham, Massachusetts, as well as NSTAR in Boston in strategic real estate assignments including a build-to-suit, 1031 exchange and sale of real estate assets.  Mr. Hynes has represented Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in strategic corporate real estate projects.
