Communities
We are committed to making a positive contribution to the communities connected with our business. This commitment is important to us because we want to maintain relationships of trust with all our stakeholders.
We act upon this commitment in a number of ways, from funding good causes to encouraging volunteering by our employees. In order to make a clear, long lasting difference, we have focused our community investment on the key themes of education and the built environment.
Colliers Green Focus
Colliers Green Focus is our flagship community investment programme. It is an exciting initiative for schools that has been designed by educational experts to achieve a significant, targeted impact in the education of environmental issues for 11-14 year old children.
The project helps children understand environmental change and sustainable development through the use of photography. It supports the teaching of the 'sense of place' theme of the geography curriculum.
Schools can take part in one of two ways. A small number of schools will have the services of a professional geographer and photographer to explore and interpret their environment on a field trip and in a follow-on workshop. Many other schools will be helped to run their own fieldtrip and workshop, thoroughly INSET training and access to a range of free resources. Since its launch in 2007, Colliers Green Focus has worked with 30 secondary schools across the UK and reached around 3,000 children studying geography. Many teachers have attended the INSET training sessions.
Each year, the best photographs taken by the children are brought together at an awards ceremony attended by many from the worlds of property and education, as well as children whose work is on display. A gallery of photographs from the finalists in each awards ceremony to date can be found at the Colliers Green Green Focus website.

Responding to Challenges
While Colliers Green Focus is challenging children in how they see the built environment, our own people regularly face up to all manner of charitable challenges each year. In 2010, as well as a very popular cycle ride across Belgium and Holland that raised over £20,000 for Cancer Research and the North West Children Support Group, we have helped employees running triathlons, recycling mobile phones, climbing mountains, running up very tall buildings and doing maintenance work on charity premises, all for a good cause.
At a corporate level, we undertake a number of assignments at a nil or significantly reduced fee for charitable organisations such as Crisis, the homelessness charity and the Samaritans, the emotional support charity.
