Colliers International has provided active leadership in the Australian property industry’s progress with environmental sustainability since 2001.
Our Leadership
This has been exemplified by our long term leadership role in the 3CBDs Greenhouse Initiative to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of tenants in the CBDs of City of Sydney, North Sydney and Parramatta.
Colliers International is an inaugural and active member of the Green Building Council of Australia .
As well as investing in the knowledge of our own people, we have supported knowledge development around environmental sustainability in the property industry. An example of this was our Tenant Energy Initiative which involved providing large seminars on reducing energy in offices for tenants in Sydney and Melbourne as well as the distribution of over 1,300 copies of the ABGR Tenant Energy Management Handbook to tenants nationally.
Our 2006 Office Tenant Survey and Lifeblood reports provided innovative market research and interpretation of sustainability trends in the market.
Our Environmental Policy outlines our commitment to leadership in this area.
Our own performance
Colliers International has been progressively ‘greening’ its own offices including implementing paper recycling systems, procuring environmentally responsible office products and the refurbishment of lighting systems and computer systems to achieve high ABGR ratings. Our current objective and targets are outlined in our Green Office Plan.
We have achieved 5 Australian Building Greenhouse Rating (ABGR) stars for our offices in each of North Sydney, City of Sydney and Parramatta. 5 stars is the maximum rating available in the ABGR system and places our tenancies amongst an elite group in terms of energy efficiency performance. These three 5 ABGR star ratings fulfil on our corporate commitment in the 3CBDs Greenhouse Initiative.

Winner of the ABGR Corporate Leadership Award in the NSW State Government Green Globe Awards in 2005.
Highly Commended in the Education and Awareness category, NSW State Government Green Globe Awards in 2004 and 2005.
