I originally trained with a long established firm of Chartered Surveyors based in Manchester and have been working in the licensed, leisure and hotel property market since 1987. I joined Colliers in 2007 to head up our UK Corporate hotel operation. I was appointed Head of UK Hotel Agency during 2011.  Since the beginning of 2003 I have sold or acquired over 100 provincial hotels on behalf of clients of asking prices ranging from £1.2m to in excess of £20m.  In addition to the managerial responsibilities, I remain focused on handling larger private and corporate hotel transactions throughout the UK.


I have sold or acquired over 250 hotels, handling a multitude of different types of hotel transactions from individual asset sales and acquisitions to the disposal of corporate groups.

Julian Troup, Colliers International has completed the sale of The DoubleTree Chester an impressive corporate hotel and spa with xxx letting bedrooms, located on the outskirts of Chester, has been acquired by Marathon Fund off an asking price of Offers in the region of £25m. 

TVHG - Landmark sale of 11 Dutch hotels with a total of almost 2,000 bedrooms on behalf of a jointly held company funded by Metric Capital Partners and Hutton Collins Partners LLP.

ibis Budget Bradford and ibis Gloucester - Sale and franchise back of two substantial limited service hotels. The transaction was undertaken on a confidential basis for AccorHotels and sold to a single overseas purchaser.

Hollybourne - Colliers International was appointed by Alix Partners to dispose of this group of five hotels in a diverse range of south east trading locations. We successfully disposed of  all five hotels to a variety of purchasers, generating considerable underbidder interest from a  broad range of buyer profiles in the process. The transaction demonstrated the strong demand for hotel assets in the south east region.

Windermere Hydro - Popular Lakeland 84 bed hotel sold on behalf of Lake Hotel Ltd

New Ellington - 34 bedroom boutique hotel located in the heart of Leeds’ Central Business District. Sold on behalf of RBS.

Julian Troup, Colliers International has completed the sale of the iconic Brooklands Hotel to new owners. The hotel is located on the site of the Brooklands racetrack in Weybridge, Surrey, the renowned birthplace of British motorsport and a historic centre for aviation development.  Colliers International, acting on behalf of S M Rayment and A D Nygate of BDO LLP, Joint Administrators of the property holding and operating companies, agreed a sale of the hotel freehold and business for an undisclosed sum.  The hotel was sold from a guiding price of Offers in Excess of £20 million.

Sale of Oakley Court Hotel, Windsor
