With over 30 years of New York real estate experience, Mr. Harbert spearheads management initiatives and integration for all of the firm's service lines, overseeing all operations across the Eastern Region, which includes the span from Boston to Washington D.C., encompassing several key North American markets. As a member of the Colliers International senior U.S. executive team, he will build upon his unparalleled track record for driving strategic growth in New York and the surrounding markets, with the goal of accelerating and broadening the success of Colliers’ eastern region markets.
Most recently, Mr. Harbert was the chief operating office for Cushman & Wakefield in the New York Tri-State region and its area leader for the northeast. Before joining Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Harbert was Vice Chairman and General Manager of CB Richard Ellis' New York City offices. In addition to the office brokerage operations for CBRE in Midtown and Downtown, he was responsible for management of retail services, investment sales, consulting, agency  leasing and asset services. Additionally, Mr. Harbert spent 16 years with Insignia/ESG and its predecessor, the Edward S. Gordon Co., where he rose to Chief Operating Officer for the firm's New York Metro Region.
 
Before entering the real estate services industry, Mr. Harbert was Deputy Executive Director of Real Estate for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, where he worked for more than six years and was responsible for leasing, development, acquisition and property management. Prior to that, he served as Executive Assistant in the Division of Special Education, New York City Board of Education. He also served as Associate Director of the Ralph Bunche Institute on the United Nations (CUNY), and has served as the Chairman of its Advisory Board. He was the Assistant Director of the Commission to Study the Organization of Peace.

Accomplishments

 Developed managed brokerage approach at Edward S. Gordon that helped vault ESG to the number one market position in the New York market over an 8 year period.

Designed a coordinated client, pursuit, deal and tenant tracking system at ESG.

Led teams that helped ESG acquire Rostenberg Doern, Lynch Murphy, Jackson Cross and Barnes Morris Pardoe.

Managed the integration of I/ESG and CBRE.  Was awarded CBRE's Colbert award for training all their managers my first year there.

Developed a collaboration project for C&W that allowed that company to overtake CBRE on market share over a 3 year period.  Done by effectively doubling market share at C&W New York.

Mr. Harbert is a graduate of San Francisco State College and holds Masters degrees from New York University, City College of New York and City University Graduate School. He received his Doctoral degree in political science from City University Graduate School.
