Colliers Reno

How We Started

Colliers International proudly traces its roots back to a local firm founded 1898. Today, our offices in 68 countries are aligned under a single brand and leadership, providing our clients with best-in-class resources while maintaining our historical flexibility and local ties.

Colliers was one of the first truly global commercial real estate organizations, formed more than 30 years ago as a network of independent firms. As client needs evolved, Colliers embraced the the opportunity to build an integrated global platform of professionals and property services to meet the demand for globally consistent service, accountability and integration.

Our local history

Originally opened in 1999 by San Jose-based Colliers Parrish International, Inc., the Reno office has some of the most respected professionals in the market, all with deep local roots. Their community involvement and history gives the needed local perspective and market knowledge to best address the requirements of Colliers clients. The company traces its history back to 1974 when J.R. Parrish, Inc. opened its first office in San Jose. The company quickly earned the respect of both clients and the competition with its dedication to honesty, integrity, and delivering on promises made. The approach even then was to accelerate the success of the client. That philosophy has attracted the industry's best personnel over the years and in 1994, that philosophy brought the Parrish organization together with Colliers International, a global commercial real estate firm that shared the same core principles. After nearly 20 years of doing business as J.R. Parrish, Inc., the organization joined forces with Colliers, becoming an independent owner and taking the name Colliers Parrish International.

In 1998, that philosophy led to the merger of Las Vegas-based Stuart-Mixer Commercial with Colliers Parrish International. On year later, the Reno office was opened and quickly attracted some of the top brokers in the market, establishing itself as a leader in the local commercial real estate community. The yearly Trends forecast and "State of Reno" event draws 400 attendees annually to hear how the Colliers professionals see the market in the coming year.
