As an importing business, Achim needed a place to store their inbound freight which, at the time, was being held at the Port of Newark. Finding immediately-available short-term space in a tight market was already difficult, but the Colliers team had to then find a way to accelerate the Certificate of Occupancy approval process, which could take as long as 30-45 days in some municipalities.

Michael and Jonathan negotiated a two-year sublease with CEI, and quickly obtained approval from property owner GLP, with whom they had done business previously. They were able to obtain almost immediate occupancy approval based on their relationship with the township officials and the pressure from the Port to move the cargo out fast.

Thanks to fast work by the team, Achim was able to move into a new space within just 15 days of the fire. Finding new space quickly not only helped save Achim money on temporary storage, but also minimized business disruption.
