Monterrey, a growing city

Monterrey is located in the northeast of Mexico and boasts a strategic location to access both national and international market (mainly American and Canadian) and is about 230 kilometers (143 miles) from the border.

The city enjoying the benefits of proximity to the United States without being a border town. It is one of the most important business cities in Mexico for its industrial development that began from the mid-nineteenth century when companies of textile, beer, steel and other industrial materials were founded. In the twentieth century, the strengthening of these companies coupled with diversification into sectors of glass, metal-mechanic, cement and educational services led to the state occupies a leading position in the country.

In recent decades, there have been other sectors, including food processing, auto parts, software development and financial services. Currently, our diverse and modern economy represents 11% of total production in the country and Monterrey is known for its entrepreneurial culture, the great management talent and the attitude that facilitates doing business.

More than 1,800 foreign companies have settled in Nuevo Leon. These companies join the many mexican companies and industries already present in the state. Together, they have resulted in the competitiveness of Nuevo Leon as a state of progress in sectors such as automotive, appliance and electronic equipment. These companies have also led to the development of groups that will be characteristic of Nuevo Leon in the near future, including those in the aerospace, software, specialized medical services and biotechnology.

All these factors will drive a change in the state's economy to move from being based on manufacturing to one based on knowledge. In addition, its extensive network of transport and telecommunications enable efficient mobility of goods and services as roads and railways of the State that allow access to ports and cities in Mexico and North America.

Monterrey has lately been defined by the real estate experts as the most modern city in the country and ranked with the higher american influence, concluding that is the most representative city in northern Mexico.
