LA Specialty Produce, one of the nation’s most respected wholesale suppliers of fresh produce and dairy products to top restaurants throughout the western United States, has signed a $26 million lease renewal that will expand the company’s warehousing and distribution footprint in Santa Fe Springs by nearly one-third, Colliers International has announced.
Founded in 1985 in a shared Los Angeles warehouse space, the company’s local operations now will be housed in nearly 270,000 square feet, up from the 188,000 square feet it previously occupied in Santa Fe Springs, through an expansion of its current site at 13527 Orden Dr. Property owner Golden Springs Development Co. will oversee the expansion, Colliers reported.
Colliers Senior Executive Vice Presidents Clyde Stauff of the firm’s Irvine office and Stephen Calhoun of its Commerce office, represented Golden Springs in the transaction. Cushman & Wakefield represented LA Specialty.
“LA Specialty Produce is expanding their refrigerated space to meet growing demand for premium fruits and vegetables from its customer base throughout Southern California,” said Stauff. “The central Golden Springs Business Center location provides an ideal location for the delivery of fresh produce.”
With the consummation of this particular transaction, the company now has more than a half-million square feet of warehouse and distribution facilities spread throughout the western U.S., a fleet of 150 trucks, and some 600 employees. Since 2001 LA Specialty has had warehouse facilities in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, San Diego, and Phoenix. In addition to its Santa Fe Springs location, it has distribution facilities in San Diego, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Arizona. It also has a Hawaii shipping program.
