Bydgoszcz is characterised by a wide variety of retail projects – hypermarkets with small retail-service galleries, retail parks, specialised centres as well as urban shopping-entertainment malls.

In 2015 Zielone Arkady shopping centre was opened. The long-awaited IKEA project was delivered to the Bydgoszcz retail market. Galeria Pomorska was extended by approx. 10,000 sqm. Moreover, the modernisation of existing shopping centres was carried out including renovation of Focus Mall and Rondo shopping centre

„Retail investments in Bydgoszcz brought 250 new units, service and catering points. Several new brands appeared for the first time in the city, mainly thanks to Zielone Arkady. Tenants such as Fielmann, Lacoste, Massimo Dutti, Tommy Hilfiger, Swarovski, Tous, New Balance, Pandora, Decimas, and United Colours of Benetton debuted on the market,“ said Katarzyna Michnikowska, Senior Analyst from the Research and Consultancy Services at Colliers International.

There are over 720 stores in shopping centres in Bydgoszcz. The largest tenant groups are chains from the fashion sector (25%) and services (14%).

Lease transactions announced in 2015 include the flagship store Saturn, Smyk Megastore (1,700 sqm), C&A (1, 600 sqm) and Intersport (760 sqm) in Zielone Arkady and Szachownica (400 sqm), Pepco (400 sqm) and English Home (180 sqm) in Galeria Pomorska.

Currently, there are no new retail schemes under construction in Bydgoszcz. However, the modernisationof the Carrefour shopping centre on Jana Pawła II Street, which will soon change into Metropolitan Outlet, is at an advanced stage of preparation.
