Colliers International closed its Prague office for one day in September in order to allow employees to donate their time to the Andromeda Community charity organization.

Andromeda Community is a humanitarian organisation dedicated to promoting the interests of disabled and elderly people, as well as asserting the benefits of ecological thinking.  The Andromeda community provides clients with basic needs; especially, delivering meals, doing the cleaning and shopping and bringing necessary medications. The service aims to support clients in self-sufficiency and independence, so they may remain in their own environment and among their loved ones.

Colliers International staff took a day out of the office, exchanging business attire and ball-point pens for overalls and shovels in order to dedicate their time and effort to one of the charity organization’s most worthwhile ventures.  For over 10 years the Androméda community in Velka Chmelistna, near Rakovnik has been working on a project to build a residence and hospice for patients suffering from Alzheimer’s.

“Long before governments began enacting and enforcing laws and other mechanisms designed to stimulate a sense of corporate social responsibility, individuals were coming together to protect communities and those that live within them,” said Omar Sattar, MRICS, Managing Director, Colliers International Czech Republic. “These efforts occur on a local level and are primarily run by volunteers and helpers, and we are glad to be able to contribute in some way to that can help to improve the quality of someone’s life.”
