John Penrose MP

John Penrose MP, the Minister of State for Heritage and Tourism, attended a workshop in Manchester this week organised and chaired by the Colliers International Destination Consulting team. It was the culmination of a study that English Heritage commissioned from Colliers on the minister's behalf to advise what the government and its agencies could do to encourage investment in historic buildings that are at risk. Also in attendance were leading developers including Trevor Osborne and Nick Robinson (Development Director of Urban Splash), the chief executives of two of the country's leading building preservation trusts, and the senior conservation planners of Manchester and Liverpool.

David Geddes is leading the work for Colliers, with assistance from Matt Hyslop in Destination Consulting, Mark Charlton, the Head of Research and Forecasting, and James Edwards, Senior Planner in the Bristol office. The report will contain a wide range of proposals from changes to planning procedures to changes in grant funding programmes and is due to be published in June.
