North Cornwall holiday destination Hengar Manor Country Park has been purchased by Bridge Leisure Parks.
Set in ‘Poldark country’ in 33 acres of woodland near Bodmin on the north Cornwall coast, Hengar Manor was sold by leisure park sector specialist Colliers International.
This is the latest purchase in Cornwall by Bridge Leisure, the leading holiday park operator, backed by Private Equity firm Phoenix Equity Partners. Earlier this year it bought Hedley Wood Caravan and Camping Park on the Devon-Cornwall border in an off-market deal brokered by Colliers International.
Ben Jones, director of Parks and Leisure at Colliers International, said Hengar Manor, which was brought to the market with a guide price of £6million, was already a profitable business but provided significant opportunities for future development and trading growth.
“Hengar Manor has enjoyed impressive trading growth in recent years, and it represents a great opportunity for buyers to build upon that given its superb facilities and the popularity of Cornwall as a destination, plus the strong UK tourist economy and the trend for ‘Staycations’.”
Hengar Manor presently comprises 161 accommodation units including lodges with outdoor hot tubs, villas, caravans, bungalows, and cottages, plus apartment within the original manor house.
Other facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, a pitch and putt golf course, a woodland adventure playground, a video games room, a bar and grill, a café and a pizzeria. There are also several fishing lakes and woodland trails.
