Bricks and mortar are usually all in a day’s work for commercial property specialists in the Bristol office of Colliers International.

However, modelling clay was instead the focus of their attentions recently when they left their office at Temple Back to attend a Development Day at the Colston Hall hosted by model makers from Aardman Animations, the world famous Bristol-based animation studio behind Morph, Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run to name a few.

In addition to getting the chance to hear about Aardman’s animation process, the event involved staff recreating some famous characters and then working in groups to write, create, film and edit their very own animations.

The idea for the event was chosen from ones put forward by members of a group of young surveyors in the Bristol office selected for their leadership potential, set up by Head of Office Tim Davies.

He said: “All Colliers International staff benefit from annual development days, and this one was a particularly successful event in terms of team building.

“It was a great day in which everyone got involved and created their own Morphs and Gromits – some more recognisable than others!”

Amy Brooksbank, senior surveyor in the Parks, Sports and Marinas team, who came up with the idea said: “The brief was to come up with a Development Day for the whole office, and a day with Bristol’s Aardman seemed like an ideal way of being inclusive and having fun, whilst improving team interaction, delegation, communication and our ability to work together more effectively.”
