Hedley Wood Caravan and Camping Park, set in 40 acres of woodland in Devon, has been sold by leisure park sector specialist Colliers International.

It was sold off-market to Bridge Leisure, the leading holiday park operator, backed by Private Equity firm Phoenix Equity Partners.

Ben Jones, director in the Holiday Parks team at Colliers covering the South West and Wales, said: “The sale reflects the unprecedented level of recent market activity at a corporate level.

“Hedley Wood is a fantastic holiday park, set in rolling Devon countryside just inland from the picturesque Widemouth Bay and the resort town of Bude.

“It represents an exciting opportunity to invest and maximise the potential of a site with planning permission for approximately 400 touring caravans, 40 static caravans and the storage of 200 touring caravans, across a site extending to around 40 acres.”

Hedley Wood, near the ancient Devon market town of Holsworthy, presently provides a range of static caravans, plus pitches for camping and caravanning.

Mr Jones said: “It has been developed on the site of a former brick works and retains some of the industrial architecture that adds to the site’s great charm, set amongst rolling Devon countryside with farmland and coppice surrounding.

“The park has been purchased from the Bryant family who have developed a wonderful family park that attracts a loyal customer base, who will be delighted to know that Maria the park manager has remained in the business.

“Bridge are excited about the opportunity to invest further in the site and facilities, making the most of the huge potential that it offers, whilst retaining much of the character and ethos that has been created by the Bryants.”
