The UK economy is set to officially move from recovery to expansion when Q2 14 GDP figures are announced this month. Growth is better balanced and inflation remains benign. A change in tone from the Bank of England suggests base rates could rise in early 2015, with an increasing number of forecasters suggesting the end of the year.
Nationwide house prices by region, in the 12 month period from Q1 2013 – Q1 2014, show that the majority of regions outside of London saw between a 6% and 10% increase in house prices. Not surprisingly, the South East registered the largest increase in house prices during the 12 months since Q1 2013.
