CoStar has today named Colliers International as the most active industrial agent in Scotland. The Colliers team, based in Glasgow and Edinburgh, transacted 2.453m sq ft of industrial properties in the period September 2010 to August 2011.

Iain Davidson, Director of Logistics & Industrial with Colliers International in Glasgow commented: "While the wider economic environment is undoubtedly affecting market dynamics, the Scottish industrial market has remained relatively resilient. The majority of demand continues to be focused at the sub 10,000 sq ft end of the market, although we have seen a notable increase in enquiries for medium to large properties, particularly post-summer. While ‘big shed’ demand continues to be dominated by third party logistics (3PLs) and food-related occupiers, we are seeing an increase in demand from the manufacturing sector. Speculative development continues to be very limited due to lack of funding and concerns over demand. Accordingly, supply in some areas is now restricted, the result of which has seen rental levels remaining relatively stable.”

Bryce Stewart, Director of Logistics & Industrial with Colliers International in Edinburgh, added: "We are delighted to have been recognised as the best performing Scottish Industrial agency team for the second year in a row. In what has been a challenging year, our market knowledge, experience and sheer hard work has enabled us to conclude a number of high profile deals. The Colliers International Industrial & Logistics team is a long established team in Scotland and seen as one of the market leaders. We are supported by our national team which gives strength in depth to our national clients too."
