The Ring O Bells in Widcombe has been let on a new free of tie lease to experienced hospitality sector manager Ash Kumar.
Mr Kumar – who lives locally – said it would be business as usual.
“I think the function room needs a little attention to bring it up to the same welcoming standard as the ground floor but nothing drastic. The Ring O Bells has great character and is in a great part of the world I am looking forward to getting to know the regulars and welcoming new guests.”
Colliers International Hotels Director Simon Wells said the popular bar was just across the River Avon from the city railway station a few minutes’ walk from the Southgate shopping centre.
“Having been quietly on the market without success it wasn’t until we were able to go openly that the market became interested and the deal was done very quickly.
He said: “This is a charming food-led pub with a loyal following in what is very much a ‘village’ location just off the city centre and it was no surprise that we found a buyer.
“It’s a classic, stylish city bar which offers a cosy and attractive trading area and a popular function space used by locals for parties and for specialist comedy nights.
“It is particularly well set up for an incoming tenant to take it forward without having to reinvent an already successful business. The fact it is free of tie means there are opportunities in terms of purchasing and margin.”
The main bar offers around 40 covers a flagged floor and fire place, a timber servery and an intimate atmosphere. The function room will seat 50 but can accommodate 70/80 standing. It has a rustic feel, ideal for the acoustic music and comedy that often feature.
