Graham Ryall Appointment 11.05.2011Graham Ryall, a Director in Colliers International’s rating team in Birmingham, has been appointed as President of the Rating Surveyors’ Association (RSA). Mr Ryall takes over the role from John Elcox and becomes the 102nd president of the Association. He is also the first rating surveyor practising in the West Midlands to be elected to the position. Mr Ryall has more than 40 years’ experience in rating valuation, having worked in both the public and private sectors, predominantly in the Midlands. He specialises in large industrial complexes with associated plant and machinery and other specialist properties, such as shipyards, hospitals, leisure centres, crematoria and universities. He said: “It’s a great honour and privilege to take on the presidency of the RSA. I’m looking forward to my year in office and to continuing the work of my predecessor and of the organisation in representing the interests of our members and the rating industry as a whole.” The RSA is a professional organisation representing the interests of chartered surveyors who specialise in the field of business rates. It works with the various bodies responsible for the rating system, including the Department for Communities and Local Government, the Valuation Offce Agency, local authorities and the valuation tribunals, to improve the business rates system. The Association was founded in 1909 and has more than 400 members drawn from private practice, corporate bodies, the Valuation Offce Agency and local authorities.
