Barkley graduated Cum Laude in 1996 with a BBA and BA from Southern Methodist University (SMU). He started his business career as a consultant with Accenture/Andersen Consulting before joining the Greater Fort Bend Economic Development Council (EDC) where he spent over 10 years recruiting businesses to locate in Fort Bend County, handling economic incentive negotiations and spearheading redevelopment activities on behalf of the County and its cities.

In 2010, Barkley established IronStone Realty Advisors, a boutique commercial real estate firm serving the Houston region and beyond with a strategic focus on Fort Bend County and the Eagle Ford Shale region in South Texas.  In 2014, he merged IronStone with the Fort Bend County office of Colliers International, where he currently serves as Senior Vice President.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Barkley is a Board Member on the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce and is co-chair of the Fort bend Leadership Forum Program. He is actively involved in Second Baptist Church and is co-founder of the Fort Bend CORPS, a nonprofit organization that provides free home repairs for elderly and disabled low-income homeowners in Fort Bend County.  Barkley and his wife Jill are licensed foster parents through Loving Houston and volunteer with the Little Footprints foster/adoption rescue ministry.
