Alex is Colliers International's global general counsel and vice president.  He leads the Company's legal team and is responsible for the company's legal, risk management and corporate governance work.  Alex also serves as the company's Corporate Secretary. 
 
Alex came to Colliers International with 15 years experience as a practicing lawyer.  Immediately prior to Colliers,  Alex was Senior Counsel to the Saudi Arabian Oil Company in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.  There, his work primarily focused on international disputes and international joint ventures, ranging in value from several hundred million to several billion dollars,  in the solar, traditional energy and petrochemical businesses.  Counterparties in such transactions included G.E., Siemens, J.P. Morgan and Sumitomo Chemicals.  In addition to his in-house work, Alex was a partner with the international law firms of Dorsey & Whitney LLP and Holland & Knight LLP where his practice focused on complex disputes and counseling in matters involving joint ventures, intellectual property and employment law.  While in private practice, he represented clients as diverse as Lam Research Corporation, Wells Fargo Bank, U.S. Bank, Expedia, and Airbiquity, Inc.
 
In the Washington legal community, Alex has been recognized by his peers as one of the top 10% of lawyers in the State and in 2008 was named a Washington Top Lawyer by Washington CEO Magazine.  He currently acts as a Trustee to the King County Bar Foundation.
