MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Cheryl Muniz - Colliers Turley Martin Tucker  

When ProLogis entered the St. Louis market in 1997, the world’s largest owner, manager and developer of distribution facilities offered Cheryl the challenge of starting up management for its newly acquired assets. Cheryl joined the company the day after ProLogis acquired four buildings of 445,000 square feet.

Admittedly, Cheryl was overwhelmed yet eager to embrace the challenge. A risk-taker, she wasn’t even in the job market but just couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

Since then, Cheryl has been rewarded, moving up the ladder. She became a vice president and regional property manager for a seven-city portfolio and then took on the leadership role for ProLogis’ St. Louis’ operations in 2001. She more than tripled ProLogis’ St. Louis portfolio during her tenure as market officer.

She recently made another career move when ProLogis outsourced property management of its St. Louis portfolio to Colliers Turley Martin Tucker. Cheryl now works for Colliers Turley Martin Tucker as an account manager, overseeing more than three million square feet of distribution space in Earth City, Hazelwood, Maryland Heights and Madison County, IL.

Cheryl always has shown a knack for accepting such risks and then finding rewards. The native St. Louisian left town to pursue a career as a ballet dancer in New York City. When she retired from dancing in 1989, she decided to enter the predominantly male world of commercial real estate. She moved to Washington, DC, where she received baptism by fire with a tenant rep firm. She jumped right in, knocking on doors, answering phones, preparing proposals and learning her new trade. Eventually, she moved back to her beloved hometown and honed her craft as a property manager and then district manager for Paragon Group before moving on to ProLogis and now Colliers Turley Martin Tucker.

She holds board positions on CoreNet, CCIM, CREW-St. Louis and the Earth City Board of Trustees.

Her commitment to CREW Network is particularly noteworthy. She has been an invaluable advisor and mentor to our members. She serves as co-chairperson for our programs. She also participates in our CREW Careers™ program.

She really shines in helping young adults. As a mentor in the Matthews-Dickey Sky’s The Limit program, Cheryl serves as a role model in helping young women make the right choices in life as they prepare for careers.

She also has made a major commitment to The Freedom School, a Christian-based elementary school that serves the urban poor, immigrants and refugees.
