OUR HISTORY
Colliers International AS was established as Bjørdal Partners AS in 1993 by Thor Bjørdal and Petter Raaholt. It was the first real estate company in Norway to only work with commercial property. Initially we handled the sale and leasing of office, industrial, warehousing and multi-use premises, but in 1996 the business was expanded to also include hotels and shops.
Since 1997 we have been a complete consultancy and estate agency offering the following services:
- Investment consultancy
- Estate agency/consultancy in Acquisition, Disposal and Leasing
- Project development
- Valuation
- Analysis
- Searching for premises and property
- Financing
- Marketing
- Management
We handle the following types of commercial property
- Office
- Industrial, warehouse and logistics
- Multi-use properties
- Retail (stores, centres and catering)
- Hotels and Tourism Facilities
In 1999 Bjørdal Partners AS became a member of Colliers International and we changed our name from Bjørdal Partners AS to Colliers Bjørdal Partners AS.
In 2007 Colliers Bjørdal Partners AS changed its name to Colliers International AS.
Colliers International is one of the world’s largest affiliations of independent real estate consultants. Colliers International has over 250 offices in more than 50 countries and altogether more than 9,100 employees.
Colliers International was founded in Australia in 1974 as the result of a merger between the country’s two largest and most dominant real estate companies. The company name comes from Ronald Collier, who was at that time Australia’s biggest name in estate agency.
The company grew quickly in large parts of Asia, the Pacific countries and Canada.
In 1985 a formal collaboration was established between Colliers International and The American Realty Service Group, which led to the company’s head office being moved to Boston, and the American companies took the name Colliers International.
In 1990 the company was once again reorganised, paving the way for expansion into Europe. The European connection came about quickly and once members had joined us from the former Eastern Bloc countries and Africa, Colliers International truly became a global organisation.
We have two sister companies in Norway. Colliers Corporate AS (www.collierscorporate.no), which works with investments in Norwegian commercial property for foreign principals, and Colliers Management ARS AS, which handles the technical and financial management of properties owned by our clients.
