Minneapolis, Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS—(February 28, 2008)—The Minneapolis/St. Paul office of Colliers Turley Martin Tucker (Colliers), a world-wide leader of commercial real estate services, today announced that it has been retained by Minneapolis-based The Wall Companies to market and pre-lease the Minnesota Innovation Center, a new research and development facility that will provide premier office, laboratory and manufacturing space to firms in medical, life science, and information technology industries.

The Minnesota Innovation Center will encourage collaborative relationships between a variety of Minnesota-based academic institutions, Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and emerging entrepreneurial companies. The Center will serve as a nexus of innovation and collaboration on new products and technologies that stimulate economic growth for the Twin Cities, the state and the region.

The Center is conveniently located mid-point between downtown Minneapolis and downtown Saint Paul, one block from the University of Minnesota’s Minneapolis campus and directly on the University Transitway, the University’s intra-campus bus line. This research and technology park will be built in several phases, eventually including 16 single and multi-tenant sustainable buildings that house 1.6 million-square feet of professional workspace on 65 acres.

“This is an incredibly significant project for Colliers. By encouraging academic and industry collaboration, the Minnesota Innovation Center will not only assist in promoting economic development throughout the Twin Cities, but it will assist in achieving Governor Pawlenty’s goal of positioning Minnesota as a national and world leader in the medical technology and biotechnology industries,” said David Stokes, SIOR, vice president of Industrial Sales and Leasing with Colliers. “We are excited to be working with The Wall Companies to find tenants to make this important initiative a success.”

According to Stokes, Colliers is seeking businesses that can truly benefit from the Minnesota Innovation Center’s vision as well as its prime location and convenience to the University of Minnesota. This site is located in both the state-sponsored Bio-Zone as well as the federally designated Empowerment Zone, which can have valuable incentives for the righ companies.

“Geographically, the Minnesota Innovation Center is ideally situated to take full advantage of the local business and academic talent,” said John Wall, president of the Wall Companies. “Our goal is to create an environment that nurtures relationships within the research and development community while supporting healthy competition.” The environment will feature beautifully landscaped grounds, state-of-the-art energy-efficient buildings, inspired architecture, and convenient amenities for tenants and their employees.

Stokes’ leasing team at Colliers also includes Marty Wolkse and Mark Stevens.
