Although requiring the same basic knowledge as an industrial or office associate, retail salespeople have other factors to consider specifically related to that type of real estate. For example, both pedestrian and automobile counts at a given location and demographic studies relating to size, type and purchasing power of the surrounding population. Since locations for many retail businesses are leased with percentage rental, it is necessary to be aware of market sales percentages paid as rent by various retailers.

Representation of national chain retailers is accomplished by in-house personnel, capable of matching client requirements with existing/planned opportunities, while taking into consideration competitive locations which are both existing and planned.
