Colliers works with FedEx in Latin America to ensure that its real estate portfolio meets its corporate needs.
Colliers has been working with FedEx for over three years, coordinating the collecting and dispersing of real estate related information to and from their Latin American headquarters and offices in 9 countries throughout the region.
Challenge
FedEx is a very dynamic firm, with a rapidly moving flux of information for each distinctive market. Colliers carefully audited the company’s existing real estate portfolio and forged a system in order to obtain, process and communicate relevant information as efficiently as possible. This is an ongoing process and is done through a collaboration with FedEx’s Latin American Regional Real Estate director, with whom Colliers is able to devise strategic real estate decisions that promote the company’s regional competitiveness and overall performance.
Results
Colliers Latin America has helped FedEx to identify opportunities for new retail locations and has undertaken a number of renewals, renegotiations and disposals for the company. The company’s real estate portfolio includes 68 locations totalling 937,916 square feet. As a result of the continued growth of Collier’s relationship with FedEx, the company witnesses increasing cost reductions through strategic real estate management. In 2001, FedEx was able to save $150,000 on a single transaction through the early renewal of its 20,000 square foot headquarter office in Mexico City.
