This article discusses the ambitions of the newly formed Green Building Council of Indonesia (GBCI), and it's goals to produce a green building standard by using the U.S LEED rating system, developed by the U.S Green Building Council, as a benchmark.
The Indonesian version will apply local conditions and take into consideration environmental aspects unique to Indonesia.
The GBCI has also teamed up with the Indonesian Institue of Sciences (LIPI) on a pilot project. 'To be honest, no building in Indonesia is a green building,' said Tondy O. Lubis, the Division Manager of Facility Management Services of Colliers International at a seminar on Thursday. However, the GBCI is aiming to be the first to build a locally certified green building.
