Colliers International is a global partnership of real estate service providers operating more than 241 offices in 54 countries.
Colliers International worldwide
The largest partner in the global organization is Colliers Macaulay Nicolls Inc, (CMN) with its head office in Vancouver, Canada. CMN was founded as Macaulay Nicolls Maitland (MNM) in 1898 in Vancouver and operated in the insurance brokerage and residential real estate agency businesses. In the 1940's, MNM entered the commercial real estate agency market. In the early 1980's MNM Chairman acquired the commercial real estate business and subsequently merged the Vancouver practice with Leasco, a commercial real estate operation in Toronto, Canada. Around the same time, MNM and Leasco, created an organization called Colliers International Property Consultants with Jardine Matheson, which operated a commercial real estate agency business in Australia.
From that time, John McLernon, Chairman of Colliers International acquired numerous firms throughout Canada and built the preeminent Canadian commercial real estate services firm. In addition, John McLernon solicited interest from numerous commercial real estate firms throughout the USA and Europe to join Colliers as affiliate members. During the same period, Colliers Jardine expanded their operations from Australia to provide services throughout Asia Pacific and is now the leading commercial real estate services firm in the east. In 1998, CMN acquired a 50% interest in the Colliers Jardine business and in 2002 CMN acquired the balance of the company.
