HOUSTON, TX, January 15, 2009 – The Houston office of Colliers International announced today the transition of leadership within the firm. After serving seven years as President of the firm, Fred Baca will be moving his career in a new direction. “Fred will be greatly missed. We are so appreciative of the leadership and direction that Fred Baca has provided for Colliers International during his tenure,” said Charles H. Herder, Principal and Co‐Chairman of Colliers International in Houston. Under Mr. Baca’s leadership beginning in 2001, the company nearly doubled in size and quadrupled in revenues.
After founding Baca Publications in 1971, Fred’s vision led to the establishment of Baca Landata which subsequently became part of the CoStar Group. Robert S. Parsley, Principal and Co‐Chairman of Colliers International in Houston stated, “Fred has been a tremendous asset to our company and a key contributor to the dynamic growth we’ve experienced in the past seven years.”
Taking the helm at Colliers in Houston will be J. Patrick Duffy, MCR. Mr. Duffy has a long and successful history in commercial real estate. He currently sits on the board of Colliers USA, providing governance for all Colliers offices throughout North America. Pat is relocating from Florida, where he served as the President of Colliers Arnold, responsible for operations in Tampa Bay, Orlando and Southwest Florida. He brings over twenty‐six (26) years of experience in that capacity. Since assuming the role of President of Colliers Arnold in 1991, he has managed the addition of three regional offices, expanding the sales and support staff of that company over 250 percent and sales volumes over 400 percent. A powerful force in transactional brokerage himself, Pat was instrumental in building and organizing retail service delivery capabilities for all of Colliers International as Chairman of the Colliers Retail Specialty Group starting in 1996.
Among his academic accomplishments, Pat wrote the capstone case study utilized by the Certified Commercial Investment Member’s (CCIM) program’s final course offering from 1986 to 1998. He also has served as an instructor for Nacore’s (now CORENET) Intermediate Finance Course and was awarded the Top Rated Faculty Certificate in 2000. In 2003, Mr. Duffy was awarded Colliers Manager of the Year. In 2004, he was chosen by his peers to receive the highly coveted Tom Richardson Award, an honor based on experience and strength of character. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the incredible team at Colliers International in Houston,” said Duffy. “The opportunity to take the helm of the firm founded by Les Appelt over 50 years ago, combined with the chance to further drive the success of that firm in the dynamic Houston market, is a once in a lifetime event.”
