Joy Funakoshi is a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of accounting experience. She is responsible for the delivery of fiscal real estate services for a diverse portfolio of Hawaii commercial properties with clients ranging from institutional owners such as Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investments to local private owners such as MNS Ltd. (ABC Stores). She leads the finest group of property accountants in the State of Hawaii with a client-focused customized program encompassing the following: delivery of timely and accurate financial and lease reports, compliance with all landlord audit requirements, set-up of an effective cash management model, preparation of meaningful operating/capital budgets and property business plans.
Ms. Funakoshi’s scope of responsibilities with Colliers Monroe Friedlander includes accounting information and financial reporting systems, internal accounting controls, banking and taxes, corporate budgeting and planning, and corporate insurance and risk management.
Prior to joining Colliers, Ms. Funakoshi served as a Senior Manager at Deloitte & Touche in Hawaii, where she worked on engagements involving auditing, internal control reviews, litigation support, lease audits, and due diligence work. She also previously served as Assistant Controller and Director for C. Brewer and Company where she reviewed financial information from diversified agricultural, manufacturing and real estate subsidiaries, developed and monitored company-wide policies and procedures, researched and resolved company-wide accounting issues, participated in cost/benefit analysis studies, financial projections and evaluated disposition of subsidiaries.
